I need a tape to load into a tape drive for a restore. Currently its in an IEport.  When I started out by selecting Load Media, I got Initializing device failed.   The Vault Tracker action was killed to make sure commserve wasn't trying to export it.      I can see by viewing the data on the tape that a few successful backups are on there.  After a couple more tries the tape is now showing status=bad  and I see the "repeated errors during read/write exceeded threshold...marked as retired.."        Will selecting Mark Media Reusable do any good?

Is the tape full?  Marking it reusable may not work.  Try to mark it appendable if it is not Full and it should bring the tape back into the scratch pool as available media.

It had 50 GB of free space but when I marked it appendable it changed the icon from red to blue/yellow, then later went red again. I started a new full backup of this data last night which is over 50% done so may just have to abandon this tape.
