  • Updates interrupted by a restart
    Posted: 05-10-2013, 2:30 PM

    Hi all,

I requested "install updates" on my commserv, but after couple of minutes & CPU came back to 0%, nothing appended. There were no activity ... and no GUI was available to see what append.

I had to restart the Commserv.

Now all services are disabled, and the GUI is not responding (of course).

I tried to open a Ticket, but support is not available outside 7AM-7PM here.

Anyone can say me where I can check if update are done ? Can I start the service without destroying the commserv ?

    Best Regards,

    Yann

    Commserv V9 SP.. maybe 9a don't remember. I can see D:\CV_SoftwareCache\CVUpdates\9.0.0\Windows\ServicePacks\SP9b

    check updateinfo.log

See if you can manually install the patches.  If not, run removeupdates.exe from the base directory and remove everything.  Once everything is removed, then try to reinstall the latest service pack.

    package 801 is CS DB.

    Run removeupdates.exe (in base directory)

Select the option to remove all updates (since it seems the DB patches are causing an issue).

If everything is removed successfully then, reinstall the latest services pack and see if the services start.

If the removal fails post up the updateinfo log again and we can see what we can determine.

    On removeupdates there are :

    - choose date : I take today 5 may - OK

    - check box

    [X] Remove Binary Updates

    [X] Remove Database Updates.

I didnt took other check box. It s in progress...

Try to start services. IF they start then try to apply the latest.

The reason you should start them now, is because you know its a "known-good" point (just in case, you see need to sit on this service pack level until you can engage support)

If the services fail to start try applying service pack and see if the services start.

    SQL Server started.

But all others commvault services are in "disable" state and Off.

Can I start them all ?
