    Environment settings

    version 11 SP8

I have several storage policies.  Each SP is configured to do:

1st - Copy to local maglib, 2nd - DASH copy to offsite maglib, 3rd - copy to tape.

Once I upgraded from ver. 10 to 11, I decided to use the new global aux copy to tape.  This new feature apparently allows different SPs to share tapes, so no more need for dedicated tapes for different SPs.  Potential for big saving with tapes and other associated costs.

However, when it was setup and configured it used three times more tapes so after couple of weeks I ran out tapes and disabled the global AUX copies and went back to the good old and expensive aux copies in version 10.

Does anyone knows if global AUX copies bugs have been fixed and if I enable them, would this work and share, save tapes/costs?

Any tips and guidance would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Behzad

    Hello Behzad,

What are the device streams set to on the Global Aux Copy policy? You can find this by going to properties on the policy itself.
