Exchange Online backups failing

  • Exchange Online backups failing

    Exchange online backups are failing for few users with the below error: Failed to process mailbox. Error message [The account does not have permission to impersonate the requested user.] Issue is we are having this error only on scheduled jobs. If I trigger the failed users individually they complete successfully. Current Version is V11 SP16 HPK24. Is this a known issue?Do we have any fix for this?Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Shaks, I have seen the same problem for a small number of mailboxes on v11 16.25.  At the time of writing 16.51 is out and I cannot see any hotfixes that pinpoint resolution of this issue.

    Was it ever resolved for you?

    Hi Anthony,

    Error message [The account does not have permission to impersonate the requested user.] is usually reference to impersonation rights via EWS.

    Ensure the steps to create an impersonation RoleGroup have been followed: http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp16/article?p=92403.htm

    If this has been done and you are seeing the above errors on some users still, the issue might be related to throttling from Microsoft.

    Thanks David, I didn't get to update my findings yesterday but I can confirm that when this Exchange Online error randomly occurs to some mailbox that it definitely relates to throttling and is not a Commvault problem.
