  • How to change the default confirmation passphrase "erase and reuse media"

    Hello,

is there a way to customize the default passphrase that is used to confirm deletion of data?

We would like to change it and keep it secret, to have an additional level of protection for the data.

    Thanks

    Best Regards

    Hi Lucio,

it woud be better to setup roles for this and only allow those who need to delete have the access to do so. You can limit what they have access to and what they can do on what they see.

    Hi Gary,

yes we already have some roles in place, to grant special permissions only to someone.

My intention was to add another layer of protection in case someone steals the credentials to access as a privileged account.

Without knowing the passphrase, it should not be able at least to delete the backup data.

Another option would be to set the WORM flag a specific Storage Policy Copy, but I still need the possibility to delete the backup jobs before their normal expiration.

    Best Regards

    Lucio

I don't believe there is an option available at this time, however you can always open a Customer Modification Request with Support and see what they think.

    Hi Lucio,

For additional layer of protection you can also use built-in business logic workflows (dual authorization).

    Have a look here: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=115724.htm

    Hi euMike,

yes I think that using workflow is a different approach that goes in the same direction.

    Thanks
