Just a quick question.  I have an existing Hyper-V VSA environment which the server team are planning to upgrade to Windows 2012.  The details from the upgrade on the Hyper-V are as follows:

    • Remove the Hyper-V node from the cluster
    • Install Windows 2012 from scratch on the remove node
    • Repeat 1 and 2 until sufficient server resource is available to create a new cluster and migrate the VMs to the new cluster
    • Do item 1 and 2 until all members of the previous cluster are migrated to Windows 2012 and then add them to the newly formed cluster

As hostnames and IPs are going to be retained. I was thinking of doing these steps to preserve the backup records within Commvault:

    • Release the license from the existing Hyper-V hosts
    • After new cluster is created install the VSA agent back

    Hi Maimark,

After the host has been evicted from the cluster, release the license for that node in commvault (this is basically a 'soft uninstall'). Once the new node is built, simply reinstall the agent and choose the same client name (the name in the GUI) and commvault will reattach to the old client, retaining the history and all the configuration.
