We have a backup set to use a NDMP backup off a NetApp Filer. This is just a standard NDMP file sytem backup. It appears that one of the paths is pointing at volume that is used as a datastore for VMware.

The question is, if we are backing up a VM from this location with an NDMP backup, are those VMDK files going to be usable from a restore? The Incremental is the same size as the full so I'm guessing that this isn't a Raw Mapping but maybe a VMDK itself since I only see one file from the browse and recover window.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Hi Shawn, You may be able to restore it but being 'usable' is the key word, it may just work but again may not be ideal as the restore times will varry too. Have you tried it?
