Hi, is it possible to backup a Synology NAS directly via CV rather than mounting the shares on another file server and backing-up that way?

The NAS doesn't support NDMP and is just presenting AD integrated shares.

    Thanks.

    Pete.

Anybody have any suggestions for this?

    Thanks.

    Pete.

    Hi Pete,

It must be presented in some way to the CommCell, if its sitting out there as a share, it can be protected as a UNC source or destination landing space, presented to a MediaAgent.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, if you could clarify further...

In your synology, goto control panel - update & restore.  From there you can backup your config.

You will then need to get a CV file system agent to backup the data itself.  This will require either a share or i-scsi.  I dont believe there is an actual file system agent for the snynology itself.

    Thanks
