I'm on CV11.  I was recently told to install SP6 to fix something and it appears the process to manually download a service pack is now a lot more complicated than it used to be.  Instead of just going to the updates page and clicking on the SP download file, I now find that I have to download an installer, run the installer, then have it download almost 4GB of stuff.

    Could anybody revisit that "improvement"?

This is also an issue because the SP6 release is apparently not a full release at this time--it appears to be impossible to download it using the "Download software" functionality in CommCell Console at this time.

Yeah I get the following error when trying to download it thru the Admin console.

Description: Download software failed because Service Pack version [SP5] found on [FTP] server is lower than Service Pack version [SP6] installed on CommServe.

SP6 is currently early release.  It will be opened up on January 15th.  At that time,  you will be able to download it via either console without additional complications.   Currently, the only way is for you to download it and then use copy software to copy into the cache.

What is the specific reason you are trying to download SP6?

I have a ticket open which involves an odd bug aftecting VM restores from tape backups when the index files for them are not in the index cache (i.e. doing a DR using only the DR backup and tape copies to restore everything).  The case# is 161008-56 if you're curious but I don't want this thread to go off into the weeds there. My concern here is the new way of getting service packs.
