Is there a way to use IntelliSnap, to create snapshot on the storage system, without creating VMware snapshots of the VMs?

Yes it will be inconsistent, but that's the idea.

we asked this of support when first installing CV last year.  The answer then was "no".  It will always create VM snap.  Coming from NetApp VSC, this was a big change for us.
