Hi, we have 2 identical Windows MA's mounting CIFS shares off of 2 identical Isilons (each sees its own NAS). Both report paths going offline and online numerous times a day. There are no firewalls between the MAs and NASs to timeout connections and I am wondering if others have ran into this and assume it is due to inactivity. When called on for backups or aux copies, the paths are always functional, no one needs to intervene, but the checks are more than mildly annoying. I thought about a task which would run every 5 minutes or so to keep them alive but that seems rather fugly to me as a workaround.

Root cause wound up being one of the 4 nodes not being able to talk to all of the DCs in that domain, so randomly the authentication was failing. Doh.

    Thanks seabird,

    just a suggestion,

Avoiding Active Directory authorization and using only Isilon local user will help reduce external authorization requests. Active Directory Authorization is not necessary for the share unless required.
