When I run the Commcell console on the server it works fine.  When I run it on my desktop client, I can't get it to display the browser window on the left or the job controller window.  I applied some patches earlier today that appear to have screwed things up.  The patches included a reboot of my CommVault admin server/media agent and I've tried rebooting my desktop.

Has anyone seen this before?  Does anyone have an idea where the problem lies?  As far as I know the console executables are coming from the exact same location, they are just being called either from my desktop or on the server itself so I don't understand why I can log in using the same account and have one work and one run but be missing core functionality.

Also, I'm not able to close the console but have to kill the Java Web Launcher process via task manager.  Very weird.

We have run into this as well after some patches.  We had to reboot the Comserver server a few additional times then it seemed to work again.  I know it is a lame answer but it worked for us.

Thanks for the feedback.  I've got an aux copy to tape running that won't be finished until tomorrow so I'll try a reboot then.

Hi Ken, have seen this before, believe there's a script that should resolve this.

If the reboot doesn't help please log an incident with Support, they can review it further.  We'll need a copy of the Commserve DB and the log files from the CS machine.

The reboot of my CommVault admin server / media server didn't resolve the issue.  I'm opening up a support ticket now.

After opening an incident, CommVault provides a recommended solution which fixed my problem.  I'll try and paste it below for future reference.

    Solution 1

After upgrading to V11, the Commserve Console web application may open but not be responsive. Effects can vary but buttons and lists do not generate as expected. This is resolved by deleting the Java cache, steps seen here:

    1. Open Java in the Control Panel (See picture A)
    2. On the General Tab, select “Settings” (See picture B)
    3. Select “Delete Files”
    4. Ensure all 3 options are selected, and hit “OK” (See picture C)

Once this is done try logging into the Commserve Console as normally done. You will likely have to re-download the Java applet from the Commserve (or whatever machine is serving the console).

It seems to work best with Chrome where as I have seen some minor issues with both IE as well as Firefox browsers.  I typically stick with Chrome for that reason.
