When we first got Isilon and CV going, the team couldn't get NDMP backups working, or they took forever, or something. Nobody really remembers. So they started doing backups with Windows File System iDA and Linux FS iDA directly from the shares.
These shares have gotten to 15TB in size and we are buying Capacity licensing fairly regularly. The initial purchase of CV included 2 Traditional NAS licenses as well, which afaik are unused.
Now that CV and Isilon 8.1.x APIs have been straightened out and NDMP Intellisnap backups are possible, I want to know if it's possible stop backups on the SMB iDA, start them on the NAS NDMP and the DDB recognize them as the same files and not blow up my library?
Assuming I won't be storing the same data in full twice, what would be a good method for transferring some of the backups with long retention over to the new agent?
