We have a primary library set to spill and fill with about a half dozen media agents associated and about 125 mount paths.

Our group has been instructed to check these mount paths on a regular basis and disable (properties -> allocation policy -> disable mount paths for new data) mount paths that are full or almost full while at the same time enabling (properties -> allocation policy -> maximum allowed writers) mount paths that were previously disabled but have had data pruned and now have some free space.

If we don't execute this procedure, almost all of the running jobs will end up in a waiting status with a delay reason of 'library mount path is full'.

I am wondering if there is a way to make a configuration change so that we won't have to manually manage the mount paths.

Please let me know if this issue needs clarification, or if you need more info about our environment.

You should use "Spil and fill" with additionally "Prefer mount paths with more free space", then your problem is solved and you do not have to disable and enable mount paths any more for write

apologies, 'prefer mount paths with more free space' is enabled in the library properties.

Did someone edit the following parameter in Media Management?

Free space difference in GB to consider preferring mount paths with more free space

Definition: Specifies the free space difference in GB to be considered when selecting a mount path. If the free space difference among mount paths is more or equal to the value specified by this parameter and the Prefer mount paths with more free space option is selected in the library properties, then the mount path with more free space will be given high priority.

For Example: If mount path MP1 has 100 GB free space, mount path MP2 has 112 GB free space and mount path MP3 has 105 GB free space, and the value of the parameter is set as 10, then MP2 will be used.

    Default Value: 10

    Range: 2 to 2147483647

I think you are referring to the space management tab in the library properties, if not let me know.

Here are the current space management settings.

Space Thresholds -> Disk free space percentage is selected

    Low watermark is 10%

    Warning watermark is 15%

    Thresholds for managed disk space

start aging when data occupied on disk is 50%

stop aging when data occupied on disk is 30%
