    Hi folks

If I configure Hyper-v backups using Intellisnap v11. Will the backup copies to disk library via media agent server be transported over FC or LAN? The media agent server will be connected directly to the SAN via FC.

    thank you

    Hi Sunnyc

If the MediaAgent is also configured on the HyperV and attached Storage is FC, then the Backup Copy will be LAN-free.

However if the MediaAgent is a separate server, the network will be used.

You can review the following document - http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=31476.htm if you are looking into configuring LAN free

    Regards

    Thanks for the reply Winston.

To clarify, if I add the hyper-v role to the media agent server and add it to the hyper-v cluster.  Then intiaite a intellsnap backup of a vm on another hyper-v host will its backup copy back up to the media agent storage over FC (lan-free)?

    Hi Sunnyc

That is correct if you setup it in such a manner, it will be doing Lan-free backup

    Kind Regards
