Yes...   There was a change made for the "ArchiveLog" subclient (that gets automatically created when the instance is created or discovered) that pins certain properties of that subclient.   In addition to "pinning" the subclient name, you will also see that the storage policy definition for this subclient is now directly tied to the policy defined in the instance properties.  The only way to change that policy definition is by changing it at the instance properties.

The behaviour of the log backups hasn't changed...  they ALWAYS used the policy defined at the instance properties, but with this change it makes it easier to identify.

Let us know if this helps.

    Hi smithe,

    might be a feature :)

If you run IntelliSnap For Netapp license CommCell, you still might need to run Archivelog Backups as "streaming" backup.

This was possible only with a qscript delivered by Commvault, that disabled the forcibly enabled use of IntelliSnap for the default Archivelog subclient.

    No other subclient name accepted.

since one of the current/recent SPs this is now disabled per default.
    The qscript no longer required.
But maybe there are now new dependencies, that require the name of the subclient to remain unchanged.

If you need an individual name, you might also be possible to create an extra subclient using a name that fits to your needs

    have fun

I would recommend just disabling the "default" ArchiveLog subclient, and then creating a new subclient using what ever name is desired.  I'm not sure that a "new" default ArchiveLog subclient can be created once the original is deleted, and just in case you might need it in the future it will still be there.  The only way these get created is when a new instance is created.  However there is a setting to disable the creation of the "default" ArchiveLog subclient: Disabling Automatic Archive Log Subclient Creation  So if you really do not want to use these subclients you can turn off their creation with this setting.
