Has anyone successfully restored a whole Windows 2016 server ? I've had three attempts so far and each time the result has been the same, the restored server goes into the 'Preparing Automatic Repair' loop, and we cannot get the serve rback online.

The procedure provided by CommVault appears to be the same as for Server 2008 and 2012, and it works for us for those 2 operating systems.

Is there something different that needs to be done for Server 2016 ?

Restored Win2016/9 many times.  Normally for Windows a Crash Consistent backup is good enough, but do you know if VMTools succesfully quiesced the VM at backup?

The backups are done using the Windows File System Agent, so I'm not sure any quiescing would be taking place ?

How are you trying to restore? System State? Physical? virtual snap etc? Some more info would be nice.. but:

I have found that system state was having some issues. I found that adding the full C: to the system state resolved my issue. But I only have 1 attempt since I made that change.

We are trying to restroe the whole server onto a new 'blank' server, System State, and all drives, using the Windows File System Agent.

As I said above, the process outlined in the CommVault V11 SP14 BOL, has worked fine for Server 2008 and 2012.
