  • Question file access during backup

I am working with our Oracle DBA, They asked the following questions.

What happens if new files get added to the directory while backup is running and that is not in the original commvault list

Lastly what happens if the file that commvault is backing up, gets deleted in middle of backup? How does commvault operate during these scenarios?

We are backing up flat files we are not using the Oracle agent. Additionally we inc and synthetic full.  We are using an optimized scan running V11 SP15.

    Thanks in advance

With Windows it depends on the VSS option being used. If you are using VSS for all files, then any file that existed during the scan phase would be backed up even if deleted durign the backup phase. Files added to the machine after the scan phase completes will be picked up on the next backup.
