I'm trying to update my Service Packs and realise that the Install Directory in the Comcell Properites is pointing to a non existing drive.

This Comcell is mirrored from my production server and does not have a D: drive.

Hi Mark, it's not clear which component is problematic. Is it the CommServe or a mirrored Commserve?

If you look into the registry of the offending computer (hklm/Software/Commvault Systems/Instance001/*) can you see any incorrect folder parhs? that are pointing to D:?

Is it the local software cache location for the target machine? You'll get an error where it can't copy the software locally and fails the push intallation.

This setting can be changed in the version tab of the client properties.

    Hi,

    Sorry for the late reply.

I'm referring to my DR commcell - the Install Directory is D:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana.

There is no D:\ drive on this server. And I don't know where to change this path.

    Hi Mark

Do you know what happened to the (D:\) ?

If the Commvault binaries are installed on the (D:\) and now it doesn't exist there could be issue with running the CommVault Application?

I would recommend to install the Commvault Package and select an appropriate drive to hold the binaries

    Regards

    Winston

    Hi,

After re-installing a new server with a D drive, I tried to update the software, faced the same issue:

    "Failed to extract CVUpdatePack_Update.ini file from [D:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana\SoftwareCache\DownloadPackageLocation_WinX64\BinaryPayload\LooseUpdates\InstallUpdates.exe] with error [0xFFFFFFFF:{C7zip::RunCommandLine(422)/Int.-1.0xFFFFFFFF-Fatal error}]?"

There were no D:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana\SoftwareCache folder in my D: drive.

    Got Commvault to investigate.

Realised the above location is not my local server but commvault's remote location.

And the reason it failed was that the download setting was FTP. Changed to HTTPS and it was successful.
