If you have installed Commvault Simpand V10 with the SQL Server iDataAgent, then it is likely you will run into problems as neither the Windows 2019 Server operating system, nor SQL Server 2017 are supported in that release - http//documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v10/article?p=system_requirements/sql.htm.

Is there a reason why v11 hasn't been installed as V10 hasn't been supported for production workloads for a long time.? Ifyou absolutely cannot upgrade to v11, then you will likely need to do SQL Server Maintenance tasks to backup to file or perhaps rely on VM snaps.

Thank you Anthony,    I thought as much.  unfortunatly we have a heap of legacy systems that are slowing us down.   I suspected the 2019/2017 issue but couldnt find the documentation.   we have 2019 servers backing up and also sql 2017 but not in this configuration

You should still be able to bring the CS, MAs and clients to v11 leaving the legacy machines running v10.

can you please check if the SQL Browser services are running in the services.msc, please try to get the services restarted if possible.

Also try to rediscover the DB in the instance and see if that works
