    Hi,

After upgrading from SP13 to SP16, my physical tape library went offline. I tried to reset the library but still not luck. Has anybody faced this issue or have idea on this.?

    Hi Kirthika

When you review the properties of the Tape Library what is status?

Can you also confirm that the Tape Library is still connected to the MediaAgent (Device Manager on the OS side)?

If you can share the CVMA.log on the MediaAgent this will provide more details on why the Tape Library is marked as offline. (CVMA will check for mounted device connected to the MediaAgent)

    Regards

    Hi Wong,

The library status is showing as offline and also there is no active controller assigned. Soft state is not get get enabled. Tape libray is still showing under MA. I have attached the logs. It would be of great help if you can have a look and update me.

    Regards,

    G. Kirthika

    Hi Kirthika

I had a look at the CVMA.log but don't see any issue which indicates that it is offline.

When you mentioned Tape Library is showing offline without "active controller assigned. Soft state is not enabled.", this usually indicates the Medium Changer might not be correctly recognized on the OS.

Can you please check on the Device Manager of the MediaAgent to see if the Medium Changer is detected?

    Regards

    Winston

    Hi Winston,

I checked the same. In MA, under device manager its showing as UNKNOWN MEDIUM CHANGER.

    Hi Kirthika

Can you please share a screenshot of the MediaAgent and Tape Library status?

Have you restarted the MediaAgent services ?

Can you also share the CVMA.log (on Media) and MediaManager.log (on the CommServe) after the service restart (20 minutes after the restart)

The MediaAgent should be reporting back to the CommServe to indicate that it is online and the Tape Library is online.

    Regards

    Winston

    Hi Kirthika

From the review of the MediaManager.log on the CommServe it still looks like there is some issue where the Tape Library is only partially marked as offline.

As the issue looks to be quite important for you can you please engage Commvault Support to assist and review further

Please share the logs with Support and have them engage on a live remote session to troubleshoot further
