We are tying to implement Exchange Journaling. We have a requirement to have 2 retention policies.

    1) Forever retentions for a few VIPs

    2) 3 Year Retention for Everyone else.

We also dont have enterprise CALs and are trying to accomplish this with Contet Store Journaling method. Is it possible?

Dont want to use Journal Mailbox method as Commvault still requires Outlook 2013 SP1 to get it to work and doesnt support EWS for Journaled Mailboxes

    Hi Shantsus,

I'm assuming this is referring to On-Prem here, so I would recommend giving the documentation a read through: http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp18/article?p=28963.htm

It's not recommended to use more than mail contact to avoid message duplication in the index.

Since you only have 1 "user" in the "subclient" you can only apply one retention policy.

    Thanks.

So i assume only option we have is to use Journal Mailbox which will require us to install a 7 year old Outlook 2013.

Any commvault fols out here have any idea when they will be adding support for newer versions of outlook?

I can't find an answer for this with a Journal solution.

I mean if you were open to using the usermailbox backupset you could probably just backup the VIP user mailboxes and set your desired retention period then use SMTP Journal to catch everything else and set a different retention policy there. Usermailbox backupset will use EWS with Exchange 2019 as well.
