Whether direct backup of virtual machines to tape is supported wnen there is VM-Centric backup (Indexing v2)? Or in the case of using Indexing 2 it is mandatiry first to make a backup to disk, and then to tape as AUX copy -- only with this way?

    Best Regards,

    Dmitry (Dmytro)

Tape does not support Live File Recovery so only disks and full machine restores would be an option.

    Hi Liam

Thanks for the information but my question is not about  Live File Recovery and is not about Recovery but about Backup of VMs (vSphere) from datastores to tape when I use Indexing V2 and VM-Centric verson of VSA (VSA V2). If it is possible with direct way (primary copy, disk-to-tape) or only with 2 phase way: primary copy to disk library and then AUX copy to tape?

    Hi Dmitry,

Backup itself is supported with VM centric which uses Indexing V2 in the direct way. File level restores are not possible when doing backups this way which is what Liam mentioned. But all other types of restores is supported.
