We have multiple sites where local storage only retains data for 14 days. We offsite to S3 where the data is retained for 6 months.

If we have to browse a VM backup to get files for anything in S3, it takes too long and times out. We end up having to restore VMDK files and mount the drives which takes a long time with large 2TB or larger LUNS.

Is there a way to set the environment to not use LiveMount. It does not fit in 90% or more of our environment.

    Hi Shane_Hicks

From my understanding for LiveMount it will only start if you go to vm > all tasks > live mount

I believe you might be referring to Live Browse.

If you are referring to Live Browse:

    • VSA with V2 Index -> only supports Live Browse when doing "Browse and Restore"
    • VSA with V1 Index -> go to subclient properties > advanced tab > click 'collect file details'
First I would recommend to check the specific Indexing version used for your VSA

    Regards

Yes sorry. Live Browse was my intention.

Is there a way to override even if using v2 Index?

    * Feature Release 11.20 addresses this via post-processing the VM contents into Apache SOLR.
