Same basic process with less caveats. The only major difference I found in BOL was for DC recovery:
If restoring a Domain Controller on a Windows 2008 Server, the binaries for Active Directory are required on the target for a successful restore. Either install the Active Directory Domain Services Role or run DCPROMO and cancel it when the configuration wizard appears. DCPROMO will check to see if the AD binaries are installed, and if they are not, it will install them. After this is done, reboot into Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM) and perform the restore.
