    Well, I restarted any Commvault services I could found and no help! Any hints will help, and yes, the client is online. Thanks.

    can you try to right click the client name in the commcell console and run a Readiness Check ?  that could provide some insight on communication issues.

    Authentication failure? how could that be...Domain Services Account for Commvault has not been changed at all...Where can I start digging into? Both CommVault Client Event Manager and CommVault Communications Service are running with LocalSystem account.

    Here's the log

    1. Communication failure between Client autotheft_div and the MediaAgent riescomvt01.hpdwinad.hpd. Error returned is:
    Authentication failed.
    2. Communication failure between MediaAgent riescomvt01.hpdwinad.hpd and the Client autotheft_div. Error returned is:
    Authentication failed.
    3. Communication failure between Client autotheft_div and the CommServe. Error returned is:
    Authentication failed.
    4. Communication failure between CommServe and Client autotheft_div. Error returned is:
    Authentication failed.

    has anything changed on this client ?  Did you change the client name, hostname, port ?

    the CVD log on the client machine may also provide some additional information

    Typically when we see this it is do to a DNS issue with the host.  It either has been moved or IP address has changed.  Once that is corrected you will have to flush dns in a windows environment from the commcell server and it should work.

    Authentication failures with CommVault generally will end up being one of two issues:

    1. Communication problem between the CommServe and the Client (firewall/port issue)

    2. The name in the registry does not match the name in the Database.  This is the least likely unless the client name was recently changed.

     

    If no firewall involved, try

    to ping each server (CS to Client and Client to CS)

    telnet to each other over ports 8400 + 8402 (8400 will give blank screen if successful and 8402 will put two lines of "jibberish"
